Featurette: Katie Manning’s YouTube Book Reviews
What inspired you to create these reviews/this blog?
I read a lot of poetry books, and I wish that I had time to write detailed reviews of most of them, but I definitely do not. Last April 1, I decided on a whim that I could create mini-review videos, because I do have time to talk to my phone for 2-3 minutes. I made several during National Poetry Month, and then I kept going...
What is the one thing you would like readers / listeners to take away from the reviews/?
I only make videos for books that I'm excited about, so I hope my brief description and reading of a sample poem will get other people excited enough to track down the books and read more work by the poets. I also hope that the poets feel affirmed if they see my videos about their work.
